Purchasing one of our pets.

    • We receive dozens of email daily and we actually do look forward to them but when it comes to purchasing or reserving a new pet from us or to schedule an appointment, we ask that you call us by phone. Purchasing a pet is an emotional process and emailing or text messaging just doesn’t cut it. We will want to know a bit about you and you will likely want to know a bit about us. During our initial conversation we will exchange information and we will both have a few questions for one another. So before calling, make a list of questions that you are curious about but don’t worry if you forget something, you can always call us again.
    • Purchasing a pet from us is a fairly simple process. It is not quite as whimsical as walking into a pet store and walking out with a new pet. But it is not as impersonal as filling out an application. We do our pre-screening over the phone! Not everyone who wants an animal from us gets one. Sometimes they are just not the ‘perfect-match’ for that specific type of animal or sometimes the animal is not really what they thought it would be.

Reserving a particular animal.

    • If you see a picture of an available animal posted on our site and it is the animal that you really want, then call us ASAP to make arrangements to reserve it or to schedule an appointment. To hold an animal a 25% non-refundable deposit is required and unless the deposit has been received we will not hold the animal. Deposit can be paid through PayPal, Email money transfer, Cash or Money Order. However if you choose to send a money order we will not consider the animal sold or on hold until after the Money Order has been deposited and cleared in our bank. If you choose to send a money order and in the mean time someone else wants the animal then they are free to purchase it. In this case, we will not cash the money order. Instead, you will have the option to leave that as a deposit towards another animal or you can request that we mail it back to you.
    • If you choose not to send a deposit because you would rather wait until you have picked out the animal in person, you are free to do so. Just remember that just because you have scheduled an appointment does not mean the animal is on hold. If you have made arrangements to come and visit but the animal that you are interested in sells before you get here, then we will call you to cancel the appointment.
    • If you are searching for a specific animal that you do not see on our site you are welcome to have your name added to our waiting list. This waiting list is also good for those wanting to reserve animals that are not even born yet or for people who want to reserve an animal months in advance. No deposit is required until we confirm that we have or will have the animal available for you on a certain date. Once we confirm that we have the animal you want you will be required to place a non-refundable deposit of 25 %.

Scheduling an appointment

  • To schedule an appointment we require that you call in advance. If it is your first time calling we will go over a few things to see if you are making the right choice. We will go over the pros and cons of purchasing and caring for the pet that you are interested in and you will be free to ask questions and share information that will help us decide if you are a suitable home for our pet. After we both agree that this might be a suitable match (you and the pet), we can go ahead and schedule the appointment.
  • While booking the appointment you will be asked your name and phone number just in case we have to cancel or contact you for any reason.
  • We are fairly flexible regarding dates and times and will do our best to be accommodating. Sometimes we have multiple appointments booked for the same day so I can’t stress how important it is for you to be on time. We ask that if you are running late or have to cancel, do so as soon as you know that you will not be able to make it on time.
  • A visit lasts under an hour. This usually works because a lot of the information has been discussed during our initial telephone conversation.
  • Whenever language presents certain challenges, we suggest that the purchaser bring one other person who is over 18 years of age, who can interpret our care tips, read our sales form and sign our guarantee.

Be prepared for your visit.

  • Sometimes, depending on what your travel plans are we will ask that you bring your own cage, but more often than not we will have a suitable transport container that you can have to bring a new pet to your home in.
  • We ask that whenever possible that you bring the exact amount of money, as we are not always able to make change. However being that we live so close to the Falls there are a lot of places that you can go to if you need to make change.
  • Limit the number of people you bring with you to our home. Besides the fact that we are a private home, purchasing a pet is a serious commitment and the fewer distractions the better!
  • Do not bring other pets to our home. They will not be allowed inside.
  • Once you arrive at our home to pick up a pet, we will go over and often demonstrate how to properly handle your new pet and we will discuss many of the do and don’ts and answer any questions you may have.
  • Purchasing a pet is a very exciting time. Often people visiting a new pet for the first time pay more attention to the animal than listen to what we are telling them. This is only natural! To ensure that everyone leaves knowing what to do with the animal when it arrives at their home, we'll also give everyone a bunch of written care information to take home with them.
